After three and a half years on pred for PMR/GCA I seem to have developed asthma. Any connection? My Dr thinks not. Anyone else experienced?

Dear asthma person

I cold not see your name. I have no experience with asthma and PMR/GCA.

On the other hand my husband has had asthma for decades. He was much in fact the asthma disappeared when he started jogging. He was good for years and years but it seems to be coming back . We have Indian friends that were here late summer, the lady gave my husband this advice: before breakfast eat a small bit of ginger root and chew it well, if you feel that it is to strong you may put some honey on it. He thinks that this is having a positive effect.

I hope something like that works for you,

Thanks Kolla. Couldn't eat ginger though! My breathing problem now appears to be pneumonia so on strong penicillin. Hopefully 10 days will see me cured - hopefully. Of course it won't make any difference to the PMR/GCA, but I can live with that. Jan

Hi nannyjc,

At least it's not asthma, but you take care of yourself now! It's still serious and you might have to up the pred a bit to help get you through.

Thanks Pats.

I think you may be right about upping the press. Am reluctant though, as I'm at Weightwatchers through my doctor and wouldn't like to jeopodise my weight loss. This PMR/GCA is so difficult to cope with isn't it?

Jan

Hi Jan,

Yes it certainly is. If you do have to up the pred it won't be by much. I hope you can manage without any extra. Good luck with the slimming.

Pats.
