Washing Day

I read a comment here recently that said that PMR arms do not like 'up'. I can absolutely agree with this after this morning.

Today it is a lovely warm and sunny day where we live and I decided to hang out a full basket of washing on the line 🩲👚🧦. My goodness me it feels as though I have been carrying around two heavy suitcases full of bricks 😣 Another job identified for hubby to have responsibility for 🙁. He's already had to take over the ironing. I don't want to play this game any more 😒

I stopped ironing long before PMR. I don’t even own an iron. I do like hanging my washing outside. Have not done it yet this spring. It does feel sad giving up more and more things, however small. I hope this arms up thing improves.

It can be OK in small bursts - I can't have a traditional washing line here and using a drying rack is OK.

I did iron two items. I have a lovely light little travel iron and ironing board

Don't have such a thing! I have a covered balcony, saves electricity. Freeze drying in the winter!!

Hubby is very particular about his gym towels, he doesn't like them hard and rough 🙄

Sorry to hear you are feeling down Antoinette. You were asking too much of your body. I understand as I tend to do the same. Try sitting in the garden with a cuppa in the sunshine.

And patience, I am having to learn patience as it does not come naturally to me.

Was going to mention patience ... its hard seeing jobs and things we enjoy and not able to do them. I have to keep reminding myself and my body reminds me too, not to do what is too much. Patience, pred, rest and wisdom and a smile 🤗

Well done, then sit and admire them. Our garden is beginning to wake up now 🙂

Good Morning all. Groggrim post and replies had me in fits of laughter. Not wanting to belittle the frustration of the Pmr though. My husband has always thought the fairies did the housework! Now he knows differently ha ha. The comments about the ironing was just so funny. It is so good on this forum to be able to have humour at times. Thank you 👍.

Ever since I’ve had PMR I’ve always my arms by raising them. I’m using them all the time in the kitchen to reach higher shelves. The easiest way to get your arms out of commission is to sit at the computer and never We keep every part of our body moving or else it won’t move; it’s just the way it is. Getting back in shape is a slow only a few movements to get in small increments. Because it’s difficult the temptation is just quit. It’s hard. I know I haven’t made my Olympic team yet.

I agree, movement and activity is desirable, but so is pacing which is important. I have learned the hard way that pacing is a must.
