I have PMR and contracted Covid. Have any of you had Covid and taken Paxlovid? Were there side effects?

Covid and PMR

Loads have been there before you, but have you actually been offered Paxlovid - not everyone is given it. Latest info -

Yes, my rheumatologist called it in for me. But, I was told by my cardiologist to hold off on Eliquis while taking Paxlovid. That's a little scary!
Looking them up -the Paxlovid can increase the concentration of Apixaban/Eliquis -and marked as severe.
I don't have coronary issues, but my late hubby did, so I think I would have suggested he didn’t take the paxlovid -and continued the Eliquis…
Suppose it depends on how bad your Covid is…and how serious your coronary issues.
Can you get advice from local pharmacist or NHS 111.
Edit -re PMRpro’s comment -ignore the reference to NHS 111…
Fairly sure Hopeful424 is in the USA.
My cardiologists would have a fit at the concept of 5 days without anticoags!! In the UK it is only the hghest risk patients who are given Paxlovid at all.
I asked for it and got it. Upset my stomach a bit but nothing much.
I had Covid last July and was given Paxlovid. FYI, my wife (does not have PMR, had Covid a year ago and also took Paxlovid). I had no side effects that I can remember, except…the same as my wife, I developed rebound Covid just like my wife when she took it, a few days after the paxlovid.
Exact same here. The second go-around, though, was much easier than the first
I too had Covid late last May and was assessed via 111 and given Paxlovid. I remember developing a very unpleasant strong metallic taste in my mouth (of which I had been warned anyway) but Covid appeared to lessen speedily, though like you Hope_full in a few days I developed rebound Covid. I got the worst dry cough I have ever experienced and partial loss of my voice for at least 3 weeks, plus testing Covid positive for what seemed an unusually extended time too. My voice did recover eventually but it felt and sounded "strained" for several weeks.
Thanks for all this feedback. I had to stop Paxlovid because it raised my blood pressure significantly. I will probably rebound also. Nasty stuff all around.
