Fall and possible flare up

A week ago I had a bad fall while out walking my dog on a mountain path. Full impact on my left side - shoulder. Attended Minor A&E and no fracture but it's an upper humorous injury - front of the shoulder joint and upper biceps area, it aches all the time but severe pain is on movement especially lifting and trying to move the arm towards my chest and driving - which not doing. Unfortunately that's where my PMR normally flares up around the shoulders.

Anyway I had been doing really well but today I am feeling worse and also lower back pain. thought I'd avoided a flare up but am beginning to doubt.

Should I up my steroids (currently on 7.5mg) if so how munch and for how long. Or stick to see just in case I did too much yesterday. Any advice greatly appreciated. Nia

Ouch!

I'd treat it as a possible flare [even if it isn't, it won't do any harm having a bit extra Pred for a little while].

Usual advice in this link - and hope you soon feel better-are you on painkillers etc -

A study actually established that a fall could be enough stress to lead to a flare. And yours sounds a fairly major effort! Just be careful with that arm - soft tissue injuries are often worse than broken bones.
