Stuck on 7

Following my last post 2/3 months ago,I’ve followed Dorset Lady’s recommendation and stuck to a 7mg Pred dose at breakfast time.Since my last post I have had my second “3 monthly” blood test. Also, passed the 85 milestone in January. I give that background info as I am puzzled by how my PMR symptoms/Pred s/es have stayed almost constant for 3 months.

1. Varying degrees of sleep, no pain

Getting up

2.whole body stiff, legs particularly on rising.

Getting breakfast

3.Head quite clear, no significant pain, apart from OA in hand joints and stenosis twinges.

Upon taking my 7 dose(5 diluted) 2 gastric resist. I soon start feeling woozy, less balanced and weaker legs. Pretty grotty in fact. Hey how another day in Prediland or is it?

My recent test results are these

ESR 5,CRP12,RF48.2 TotalWBC 12.21

My previous in August were

ESR5,CRP3.1

As I appear to have mildish sx ,apart from fatigue episodes which may be age related, should I be testing my adrenals out by dropping 1/2 mg?in the hope my muzzy head abates.

Thanks to y’all. Mus’nt Grumble

I

can’t really give you advice on that S but Pred does weird and wonderful things to us all.The only suggestion I can offer is would you be able to take the Pred at 2 am with yoghourt, then go back to sleep? If it is the Pred giving you these symptoms, you might not notice them if you are asleep or at least in bed.I keep my yoghourt pot in a glass of water to keep it cool, take Pred ,then a big glug of yoghourt then lay straight back down .( not so good now though as I have had to up dose because of a flare and sleep is now awful) Worth a try eh?Hope somebody jumps on to give you proper advice!xxx💐💐😜

Thanks for your reply, I think I’ll stick with my current routine in the hope it may be my adrenals playing silly b’s and will settle down?

If nothing has changed over the last 3 months, an attempt at a reduction seems fair. My suggestion would be to take the pred before bed so you steep through the grottyness but otherwise I think onward and downward is the next option.

Thanks, I shall give 61/2 a go. It would seem that our PMR “friend” wants to concentrate on my muzzy head ,stiff legs with the occasional middle back.Seems to leave my arms and shoulders alone?I shall wait to see what the next 4 weeks bring.🤞
