It was encouraging to see Dorset Lady’s post enjoying life after GCA and PMR.
I was on meds for both for 10-12 yrs until the end of 2023 when the Rheumy insisted I was ok to stop. Of course I had been tapering slowly but was still hesitant about stopping altogether, in fact I had quite an altercation with her. I had to stop because GP would not prescribe anyway after receiving her letter.
2024 was ok but I was always on the alert for a possible flare. 2 days ago i went for my annual eye test at the opticians. It was very thorough and the optician did a thorough check and reassured me that the optic nerve was looking “good”. I feel very reassured now and looking forward to life in 2025 , I will be 83 and will also be celebrating 50 yrs of marriage with my lovely husband. We are going to celebrate in the Canary Islands.
Even though I have been left with recurring UTI s and on daily treatment for that plus soft bones according to the Orthopaedics life is good.
I still read the posts everyday and have been encouraged by this forum over the last few years.
Thank you everyone.

Thankyou,we are going to Tenerife. We have a favourite place on the island called La Caleta. We first went 25 yrs ago and it was a little fishing village. Now it is changed and “modernised” but still fairly quiet and lovely.
I think we may have stayed there too - even longer ago than you! Probably 35+ years ago. Liked it better than the usual tourist haunts because there was next to nothing there.
What a lovely, encouraging post to read.Congratulations on your golden wedding anniversary too, and wishing you a holiday full of golden memories to take home with you.
Congratulations to you on both counts J,have a wonderful time in Tenerife! We went to Los Cristianos many years ago, then transferred our affections to Gran Canaria.Enjoy the sun and a little tipple.Wonderful to hear there is life after GCA/ PMR xx💐😜
Thank you. We stayed in Los Christianos once but it was too busy for us that is when we found La Caleta. Haven’t been to any other Canary Island. Perhaps we should spread our wings !!
when we went MANY years ago ,it was a small fishing port, seafood to die for.Guess over the years like all things ,it has changed.Gran Canaria especially Puerto Rico,on one side of the island is a small bay, think the place is Calletta de Fuste, but cannot remember for sure. The bay is perfect to swim in ,warm unlike the sea .Got a beautiful Indian meal from one of the restaurants on the beach.Maybe worth a try next year eh!xx💐😜
just had a lightbulb moment, the beach and bay was called Amodores!Beautiful, friendly locals, wonderful food and nowhere near as busy as the other side of the island.x😜
