Can anyone recommend a good Rheumatologist in or near Lincolnshire?

Hello

I’m a Lincolnshire resident with ….

Eight years LVV/GCA and PMR . After two years of frustration with local services managed to see Dr Mackie at Leeds NHS Trust and confirmed diagnosis and been a patient there ever since.

The Travel to Leeds doesn’t get any easier . Definitely worth it!

Thank you! I'm under Grimsby at the moment & am not happy atall with the 'care' I'm getting. What do i do I change over to see Dr Mackie? Whereabouts are you in Lincs?

You can try - but things are much tighter with out of area referrals now and her waiting list is probably more like years than months as she only works part time for the NHS - and does research in PMR the rest of the time.

You could try asking your GP (they are in charge of referrals) and explaining the problem.

Yes, I'll ask my GP. Just wondering if I could get a one off referral for a private appointment? At least if I knew what I should be doing & what she recommended then I would have more knowledge when I saw my current consultant?

I live in Scunthorpe and assume under the same NHS Trust as you!

I managed to get the referral as my GP at that time ( he’s now retired ) shared my frustrations and wrote at my request for a private consultation as i had got to the stage where was prepared to pay.

However , Dr Mackie does not take private patients but was still willing to see me . You can only try

l went to see Dr Batsi Chikura privately in Lincoln. He diagnosed me with 20 minutes after 6 months of struggling to get diagnosed. This was in 2020. I’ve now been off pred for 3 months 🤞. He was excellent I hope this helps.

You’re welcome, it’s the private hospital in Lincoln. I think they call it the Lincoln. Good luck.
