Methotrexate update

Hi after 4 years on prednisone for PMR early in the year after consultation with my Rheumy the recommendation was to go on methotrexate. After bloods and Xray I went to a weekly dose of 10mg Mxt on a Tuesday and 5 mg folic acid on a weds, I started in May.Have to report didnt get on with the METHOTREXATE Terrible lower stomach and right hand side pain, also dirreah. I came off in early Nov, still some pain but not as bad.

I am on 2mg prednisone, still duffer with some pain especially early morning, shoulders and right elbow.

I have had stomach probe tests, not had results yet.

Did those GI problems start quickly? Why on earth weren't you taken off it sooner? GI problems are KNOWN adverse effects. I do hope it settles soon.

Have you tried a bit more pred? That double whammy is the last thing you need for Christmas.

I started to feel uncomfortable after a month, ot just hot worse from dull pain to sharp jabbing pain that made me jump. My woes have got worse I have been diagnosed with possible angina.

Oh dear - but it could be worse!!! Not impressed by your rheumy though so hope your cardiologist is better ...

Dont let a diagnosis of possible angina get to you; Mum was diagnosed at 68 and lived healthily till 102! Unlike PMR its logically and reliably treatable! 🎄
