Gone through protecol for a flare, but only had issues with my left arm and right side of my neck.

Sometimes the other side catches up but the first question is what activity, no matter how mundane, have you been up to? Also, how did it develop and where?

I kept the post brief because the initial longer post didn't work and it takes me ages to type with one finger. So I've been slowly tapering all the way down to 3mg, left arm was making a few noises around the shoulder and hurt when lifting above my head, but right arm seemed ok. Did feel a bit sluggish so upped steroids for 6 days. I play golf 2 or 3 times a week and use the gym twice, but I have done this for a while. Obviously pmr is not finished with me yet

Did increasing the pred help? Can you remember doing something while playing golf or at the gym? If it is an injury type pain, increasing pred often won't help.

Increasing the steroid sorted out the troublesome left arm still a bit sore but that maybe another issue. Had a tendon problem years ago which took physio to sort out.

Might be the same again - but at least the pred helped. Could be a bit of both.

I think my inflamed /damaged tendon from years ago maybe a weakness that reacts first to any pmr. I have been slowly reducing my med since last November and think the last reduction was a step too far. It is difficult to notice very small changes that happen over time, if was over night it would be more obvious. At least there is a good deal of help from you wonderful folks.

That is very common for PMR to seek out your weak spots. Lots of us find it! And it is why we say leave long spaces between reductions to be sure the new dose is still enough.

Not necessarily from a flare, but going right back to the beginning, my PMR started on the right hand side and then eventually affected the left. The right has always been worse than the left. Like someone else commented, the left always eventually more or less catches up with the right. I'd always put it down to my wonky body, which must affect my posture. I'm definitely bigger on one side than the other.

Ditto Gimme. Mine started in my right hip and knee, and being undiagnosed eventually spread to my left knee, back and neck then finally left hip by which time, 9 months later, I had developed GCA too.
