I stopped pred at the start of sept, difference

2 years after diagnosis as advised by GP and rheumatologist

Initially I had some mild pain.

The pain is pretty constant it doesn’t feel exactly the same as when I was first diagnosed

My bloods are normal ? Is this PMR

Can you describe it more? Like where it is, what sort of pain, what makes it better and what makes it worse.

As you’ve only been off Pred for a short while, and it’s only 2 years since diagnosis, it could well be your PMR resurfacing …but a bit more info on pains etc might help us give more advice.

As for bloods being normal, that doesn’t really mean much… if it is PMR then it can take some time for them to affected.

Does sound like it could be piriformis syndrome, some exercise here -

Fatigue could be your adrenals still not up to speed yet - can take anything up to a year after being off Pred for that to happen.

Have you tried sleeping with a pillow between the knees when on your side to stop the pull on the buttock muscles from the top leg?

Could be the pmr making a reappearance. The second time I got to zero, I stayed there for 108 days before the pmr reappeared- that was over three months.

Pmr has a mind of its own, and sometimes fools you into thinking it’s gone away!

PMR can take up to 5 or 6 months to resurface after stopping pred as if the underlying disease activity is very low it can take that long for the inflammation to build up enough to cause symptoms. ANd it takes enough inflammation before the liver responds by producing the proteins that raise the markers. They are a very unreliable sign - if only doctors understood HOW unreliable!!
