I have had PMR for almost 4 years now with multiple attempts to taper lower. I tried methotrexate and Kevzara to help me taper but had to quit each for various reasons. When I stopped taking them my PMR raged back and I had to go up again to control the pain. I am now at 7 and 1/2 mg per day the lowest I have ever been.
I congratulate you on achieving what feels like remission. I would advise tapering slowly, you don’ t want to lose ground. If you have been successful tapering at a certain interval a month, etc. I would try that. If I ever get as low as you, I plan to go down .25 mg with each reduction, although it seems challenging to cut the little pills in 1/4ths. If you are feeling good don’t rush. I am very happy for you in your success. Did you take a biological to get there?

I feel that this might have been for me. I'm currently heading towards 2mg and you are right its time to slow right down. I think I have been lucky so far... the slower the better from now on although I have been reducing .5mg over 7 weeks for a couple of years now... seems like forever but suddenly I'm nearly at 2mg and I've only once been that low and can't remember if I really felt ok then which I certainly do now. I am on Methotrexate as a steriod sparer and on a biologic called Barcitinib for my psoris Arthritis.
