Staying in Ragusa for Bridge holiday with friends. Fabulous weather ,not too hot around 25 to 27 degrees , would recommend near here Ortigio and Ragusa Ibla .. the old town. Hardly anybody on the beaches …Acacia Marina and Palace hotels are very picturesque ,the gardens manicured really well and the buffet food all mealtimes are very very good. So much choice and well cooked and beautifully presented especially desserts if that is your thing

Sicily
What's this resort recommendation got to do with PMR or GCA?? Sorry to be blunt.
Think she is just saying, after her earlier posts, that she has arrived safely and all is going well. Always nice to see a cheerful post.
No worries I was asked as someone going there soon; not very good at isolating replies…sorry to have upset you
It’s me who is going to Sicily on the 18th. We are not going to the same place as you but thank you for the information. Really looking forward to it although the hills may be a problem 😀
P.S. As you can probably tell from my name I am a bridge player but this holiday is just with two friends. Our last bridge holiday with 3 girlfriends was in Montenegro last April. Also beautiful scenery but the food in the hotel was nothing to write home about. 🙀
Have a great time 😊
enjoy your Bridge holiday
i just finished my week walking in Spain, i was very careful to not get tired, and take plenty of rest but feeling great, beautiful area and good to know i can still go on holiday with medication etc ... as I'm quite new to PMR 🙂 .... now back to a drop in dose and sorting out telling GP I dont want two vaccines same day .... i have to say GP yas been very good and efficient so far
(I kind of agree with others, this is for PMR/GCA)! But I’m interested as I’d like to go back to Sicily and stay in Ortigia, but then visit Ragusa & other places. But public transport looks naff round there, & ive seen the driving in Sicily in other years & not too keen on hiring a car, though I’ve driven inItaly before. Have you hired a car, please?
I think these posts do have a place on the forum - it shows what it is possible to do despite PMR and encourages others to have a go too. And often outlines things to think of when arranging holidays of various sorts.
This one was just for a specific person, I think, as she knew she was going to Sicily! You know me, I’d turn every forum into a travel forum! A huge hobby of mine! There’s always a lot of posts about people wanting to increase pred to go on hols, or to a special occasion, & what to do about travelling through time changes. I think they’re helpful to others. I thought I’d better add that but on my response, as I was replying asking for details about travelling around Sicily & whether to hire a car, or not, which definitely has nothing to do with PMR!! S x
It does a bit. Sicily needs the ability to walk really doesn't it. The question is, can you hire a car, get parked and cope with the amount of walking needed? Like Venice, I'd dearly like to go back but having been there I know it is very restrictive if you can't cope with 3 or 4 steps up and down again every 20 metres or so!!
I find every holiday of the type we go on requires a lot of walking! Last time we went to Taormina & the main street is about half a mile long, but no elevation. However, anywhere else in the area is up & down!! We are just back from two weeks in the Perigord region of France. Flew from small local airport, one hour & ten minutes. Picked up a car, within 5 minutes we were off, & I drove 20 minutes to rented gite. We were due to go out one day, rest the next, but David’s enthusiasm lead us to going out to a different bastide town each day, mainly when itwas market day. Parking was always outside the town, even for disabled, but the towns were compact. We padded around, bought at markets, had light lunch outside in sunshine, then returned to our gite in the heart of countryside & rested from 3 -6pm, after which I’d cook supper. I hired an automatic car, I’m not able to drive others right now! It didn’t affect my PMR at all, but my sprained & damaged ankle is a lot worse!! We are thinking of going to Venice next Spring (or maybe for carnival, but always cold & damp then)..We’ve been 5 times now, I think. Lots of walking, lots of bridges, quite unsuitable…ha ha, but David’s idea for next summer is switzerland or the Italian alps! S x
