views on new RSV vaccine?
No longer have GCA so not on Pred, but did ask nurse about issues, and got a copy of paperwork.
The usual comments re discussion beforehand include - 3rd one probably sensible to address with GP/nurse beforehand.
Severe reaction to any other vaccine,
If you have infection with high fever -then postpone
If you have weakened immune system which will prevent you getting full benefit from vaccine
The only thing mentioned in paperwork as rare serious side effect is Guillain-Barre Syndrome
Feel fine, apart from usual -slight tenderness around vaccine point, and bit of a headache yesterday evening. .
I recently discussed with my GP. Since I'm having a flare at the moment and a bit of a pred mess....she suggested I wait until the end of September, but to get it since I have asthma. The following week, I will get the flu and latest Covid, but only Moderna or Pfizer, not live elements...💞
I due to have the vaccine later in the month, if it helps with easing any breathing problems it must be good, just go for it, the same with flu and Covid jabs. None should cause any problems with pmr.
Having been knocked sideways after Shingles jab - woke up unable to move and pathetic GP insisting I’d (unknowingly!!??) fallen and broken my hip I have a real aversion now to any more needles. The GB syndrome was eventually considered. Will wait and see
There have been a few posts about it recently. It is a new rollout of a vaccine programme in the UK so only certain age groups will be offered it. RSV is rife and both small children and the elderly may end up in hospital with lung problems which can be severe. Like flu and Covid - having the vaccine makes it less likely you will become very ill with it.
