Hi all. I was diagnosed for the 2nd time with Pmr last Aug. Was put on 15mg of Pred. The Dr made me do a 1mg a month reduction and have been off Pred since begining of Aug. I always felt that this was too quick and consequently my Symptoms are back. As I have Tablets left I was thinking of taking 5mg today, 4mg tomorrow and so on till off again, just to see if it is Pmr again. Do you think this is advisable.
Thank you, Jenny

Well it might give you some evidence to present to - preferably - a different doctor! It might not be enough or long enough though. Why not see a different doctor and start again?
Curious to know if this 2nd diagnosis has gone the same way as the first? In other words, have you consistently had PMR, tapered ridiculously quickly and never got on top of it? As DL and PMRPro always ask us, can you complete your profile with the history of your diagnosis so we can all make some sense of it. Wishing you luck with this latest 'episode', definitely get a different Dr!
It really depends how many tablets you have left, but I would try a week or so on 5mg and see if that helps, if so go back to another doctor and talk to them.
Suspect you might need to go back to 15.0mg and start again and you definitely need a new doctor who knows something about PMR. Not sure 5.0mg will cut it but try it for a week or two and make an appointment to see, preferably, a different doctor.
