Does anyone know a connection between Achilles tendonitis and PMR? I had a very painful, swollen Achilles tendon in 2020, which lasted for a good year, then developed a PMR- like illness, Eosinophilic Fasciitis, in 2022. Down to 2.5mg Pred. now. In the last few weeks I have developed Achilles tendonitis again - not as bad as the first time - yet. Both diseases affect the tendon or tendon sheath. Just wondered if anyone else has had both?

Tendinitis can be part of PMR so your first episode could possibly have been PMR visiting on the quiet, However, PMR in general seems to settle in our weak spots - something I have thought for some years and Sarah Mackie said something similar in a talk recently. Then pred also increases the risk of achilles tendinitis - and do you have any history of being given a first generation quinolone antibiotic for an infection? Their names end in -floxacin and there are enough warnings about their use but they are ignored! If they are used along with corticosteroids, the risk increases a lot and apparently even the history of having a quinolone adds to it.
Can’t think of any antibiotics in recent years PMRpro, but many thanks for your comments. I think I have caught the tendinitis earlier this time. Trying local anti- inflammatory ointment. Last time I found that the recommended stretching exercises seemed to make it worse, so I’m going with more pampering this time.
