Joined three weeks ago with suspected PMR, prescribed Prednisolone 15mg , just had bloods done and results are CRP down from 19 to 8 which is brilliant I am feeling much improved., now to reduce to 12.5mg of meds for three weeks. What I wanted to ask does pmr cause pain in the Achilles tendon as both my legs are causing me real problems at the moment?

Hello, just as an opener, did you by any chance have any antibiotics with your op in Jan or since such as Ciprofloxacin (Quinalone type of antibiotic) as they can cause tendon issues.
Corticosteroids can cause tendon problems. This is from NZ and I chose it because it gives an easy list of problems with a reference. An online search will show there is a link.
I had big problems at the end of my Pred journey with my Achilles and it took 18m to sort it with the help of a podiatrist. I had also some years ago been crippled by those antibiotics so I may have been more likely to get it from steroids than most.
Tendinitis is often part of PMR and as Snazzy says, if you have a history - not only recent - of quinolone antibiotics and steroids, the risk is higher. And with PMR you often walk unevenly/badly and that itself can put strain on the Achilles tendons. Be careful though, because if it IS Achilles tendinitis and they are swollen, they are very delicate and even a small trip can cause real damage.
when I first got GCA and PMR I already had painful Achilles tendons and one ruptured the other partially. I was not on prednisone nor had antibiotics so these were part of the initial inflammation.
