So today I have had Ultra sound scan of urine tract, bladder and kidneys.

All came back clear. So while there is some relief from this. ..........

message from GP reads. "Your ultrasound scan of urinary tract has been reported as normal . Please see the urologist as planned for further investigations. "

Now bearing in mind that I have been on antibiotics Nitrofurantoin for the past days and still 2 to go, should I not be having another urine sample tested ?

If indeed this was a UTI infection which has responded to treatment, what other investigations are now needed. ?

Please don't get me wrong I am sure the GP is being robust in the recommendation for flexible cystoscopy but I could certainly do without having to have this under the current circumstances AND with a bit more clarification as to whether a UTI could indeed be responsible for the small traces of blood in urine.

Your GP should advise you whether and when another urine sample should be sent to the lab. In any event she appears to be taking active steps to exclude any causes of blood in the urine other than a UTI. The urologist is the person to decide what, if any, further investigations are needed.

That is why the GP is saying you are to see the urologist for further investigations. They are the experts.

As far as your GP is concerned you are now with the urologist until they transfer you back to your GP.
