Burning sensation. Tapering prednisolone to 3mg

Anyone had this feeling? Coping well whilst tapering and on 3mg for at least 2 months from 4mg. Not reducing whilst I feel unwell. Symptoms intense burning within my body, yet not sweating, and normal temperature, then go cold in limbs. Never felt so ill and A & E 9 days ago checked all vitals as normal. Feel stomach is upset and querying bug or virus. I have put it partly down to anxiety as carer for husband with terminal illness. I am taking 100mg sertraline for anxiety, usually effective during the day but not at night. At age 82 I still get night sweats but this burning is much more intense. Waiting for stool sample to be tested.

It has been mentioned previously sometimes when too low on Pred, but it your adrenals struggling can also affect the temperature controls in you body. Adrenal insufficiency can also affect stomach, so would say it more likely to be that, especially with the stress you are having with your husband's condition [many of us have been there and know the consequences] ... they are just overwhelmed at present.

Were they checked in A&E? If so, what was conclusion, if not, then they should have been. Maybe in time get the GP surgery to give you a early morning cortisol test the see how they are faring.

For now, try going back to 4mg and see if that helps a little, and no reducing for time being, but when you do, only 0.5mg a time and one of the slower tapering plans.

I have just said to someone else - NEVER underestimate the effects a wobbly family member can have on you. Been there, done that. Hugs.

Yes ! I have had Polymyalgia and Hip Bursitis for 3 years now , down to 4 mg Pred daily and weekly Methotrexate , I have been laid low by Stress a couple of times , Currently I have a Shingles outbreak after my dear Cat being poorly , with Pneumonia- It’s alarming how more reactive to stress our Body is with the Immune system faulty -

I had to give up any reduction whilst nursing my late hubby. In fact I got a whole new raft of symptoms. My GP said it was stress related and I believe that to be the case. My blood pressure shot up at that time too. It's back within normal range. We all underestimate what stress can do. I understand your pain❤️ xxx

I’m tapering on one of Dorset Lady’s plan. On week 2… after 2 months on 1.5. And 3 years from 15mgs

from 1.5 to 1.25 twice I hope this week. I am suffering from indigestion certainly this week.!!! . and a certain amount of sweats.. fatigue of course !!and burning feet?! But I am 86 and .. sadly ! Don’t have my husband to look after still. He was ill a longtime ago when I didn’t know what a steroid was!!! Those were the days. 🫤
