any gastritis sufferers out there who have suffered from severe shoulder and neck pain when their stomach is bloated?

You seem to have posted this twice - could you delete one of them before you get answwrs on both!

If your stomach itself is bloated, it may cause irritation of your diaphragm,, which then can cause referred pain to your shoulder. If you mean your overall abdomen/belly is bloated, that is a different matter and I have no reply for that. I hope it settles down.

PPIs can cause terrible bloating. That has been my personal experience to the point my distended belly pressed on my diaphragm bothering my breathing. Try stopping the PPI for a few days and you might have relief.

Yes, to the extent that I worry it is my heart. Shoulder blade going through to front ribs, breast pain, shoulder and neck, and sternum. I take Gaviscon, do all the usual precautions and double up my PPI if necessary as that was the dose I was first prescribed. Gastric coated pred has helped a lot.

Yes. What you quote is exactly the same. The first time it happened to me I thought it was a heart attack too. Hospital after checks said not and that it was an oesophageal spasm. Gaviscon helps so do Rennies. I have had an endoscopy since then and told I have gastritis too. The pred doesn’t help these gastric upsets I know but when it happens like I it did yesterday the pain is very frightening.
