Hi, I’ve woken up at 5am with sudden, severe jaw pain on the left side. It’s definitely in my jaw and halfway across top and bottom of my mouth and into my left temple. I’ve never had this pain before. How long should I leave it before contacting my GP or should I start with the dentist? Many thanks. Ps, I’m not taking any pred for my PMR.

Severe jaw pain
That isn't typical of GCA if that is what is worrying you. It could be a dental problem but something like tempromandibular joint issues or a trapped/irritated trigeminal nerve are also possible. Depends who you could see sooner I suppose - difficult to get appointments with doctors or dentists isn't it?
It seems to have concentrated itself in a dental area so I’ve got an appointment on Wednesday. I bet it’s an abscess that’s set in due to the Adalimumab I’m taking for the AS. Happens every time 🙄. Thanks anyway.
Are you ok in every other way? Sometimes cardiac problems can cause it.
Before I was diagnosed with GCA.My symptoms were vertigo could not walk without some assisting me. Jaw pain question wether it was due to GCA as I had denture problems .too. I am pleased since May last year things have improved to point I can walk alone now no dizziness. But still got a long way to go
