just diagnosed with PMR following 5 weeks of painful legs and arms. First day yesterday of Pred and can’t believe how quickly the pain has improved. Bit worried about the effects of steroids but hopefully can manage without too many symptoms side effects. So pleased the pain has gone during the day look forward to mornings without the agony.

Hi and welcome! DorsetLady will be along with her welcome post which has lots of useful advice.
In the meantime a little warning - don't go back to normal service now you are relatively pain-free! Being on pred is not a free pass to go back to your usual level of activity because if youso there is a likelihood that you will be back here in a day or two wondering why everything hurts again!

Hi and welcome…
As promised see attached link -

.., and you need to give the Pred sufficient time to work.. so as PMR pro says don’t try and return to normal life just because the Pred has given you extra energy.
Always someone around when you need us….
Pred really is a miracle cure, isn't it?
It's amazing isn't it - I've been on them for 3 months and marvel daily at what I can do. I went for 4 months before bring diagnosed but that's because I thought I was stiff from extra exercise. I hope you continue to improve. If took me a while for the fatigue to go.
Eat healthily but watch the carbs, take the calcium/vitamin D/vitamin K, exercise gently and build up gradually (I had to cut right down but 18 months in almost back to previous levels), have an afternoon nap/lie down and just rest more. Those are my tips!
