Diclofenac gel pain relief

Has anyone else tried Diclofenac gel. I was shocked that it eased my SI joint inflammation enough that I slept all night without pain.

PMR still receiving its due, in the form of 7 mg Pred daily, just coming down from a spring-time flare.

Low back pain diagnosed as sacroiliac joint irritation. Steroid injections did nothing to ease the pain. This diclofenac get seemed to be miraculous in its effect last night. Will continue to track its usefulness, to see if it helps anything else.

Pharmacist interviewed me to be sure I know its NSAID...

Happy Spring, Jerri

PM diagnosed 2013.

I found when I tried it - under the Voltaren trademark - it did nothing for my osteoarthritis. But if it works for you - fine. Just be sparing with it though!

Advice from someone who now uses it sparingly with Doctors permission, use protection for your stomach. If you have a sensitive stomach and being a NSAID can cause double trouble with the stomach lining.

Thought it didn’t effect your stomach because it doesn’t go through your system like the pill form.

in reply toBaileyw06

Still enters your system. Not sure of process but was warned of it.

I will be careful!Don’t need any more problems!

in reply toBaileyw06

It did for me. I used it with no problems until I got severe, scary pain in the centre of my chest. Long story short I had changed over from Pantoprazole to Ranitidine as I reduced pred to 7mg. Then I reduced to Ranitidine to one time a day. I have a very life long issue with stomach sensitivity. I can not have a tomato or a can of pop or I have severe crushing pain. I got careless and because I lowered the stomach protection the Voltaren a and Diclo cream caused havoc on the upper stomach area. Funny thing though I stopped using the cream immediately and have not had to use it on knees or lower back. The pain is tolerable. And I can't figure it out. I am using Ginger Oil that is soothing but I am waiting for the pain shoe to drop!

Glad you’re feeling better. This site is great, I wouldn’t ever have thought that it was causing my stomach problems!I am now using bio freeze if I have pain .My stomach seems to be better not using Voltarin.

in reply toBaileyw06

Never heard of bio freeze. It looks good not a NSAID and no parabens. Thank you Bailey going to see if I can use it.

I used it under Voltarin. It has helped my osteoarthritis in my

hand ,my tear in my miniscus, and my new problem a broken rib.

in reply toBaileyw06

Oh dear. Nasty. Please take care as they take a while to heal.

Yes, I am a little bit better. The Doctor said not to move too much for 2 weeks and it will help it heal quicker. The pain was the worst I ever had.

in reply toBaileyw06

You dont realise..movement, breathing, sneezing, laughing... coughing. I have had broken ribs 3 times in my life. The first time i was stupid enough to pull a bit of furniture 6 weeks into healing and messed it up. So if you can keep moving arms and legs but let it knit. 🌻

Thanks, I am being careful. I am taking Tylenol that seems to help.I use CBD oil at night and I am able to sleep in one comfy position and don’t move!I will be glad when this is over!

My doc and my pharmacist both warned me about potential issues of NSAIDs. I expect to use it sparingly, and not often.

I have only used it twice, but it does seem to help with the non-PMR pain.

I'll keep u posted with my experiment. Jerri

I've used it - better than some of the others. SI joint pain is miserable - you have my sympathy!

It's miraculous! There is also the voltarol 12 hour gel for when things are really bad (UK)

I have never found Voltarol to help one bit! Others seem to get relief. Odd!

Such a shame. Maybe diclofenac does not work for you. I used to use 100mg suppositaries at one time and they worked soooooo well.

Wonderful relief for elderly 91-year-old mother with arthritis and degenerative disc disease. Funnily enough, found Diclac or Difene Gel worked better than Voltarol gel when we thought the same! No tummy upset as now wheat- & grain-free, which also reduced pain. Following Dr. William Davis of Wheat Belly Total Health & Undoctored book fame. Off 8 medications since!
