Flare after Moderna Spikevax jab

I would like some help from you kind folks please. Successfully tapered down to 6gm of pred. With not too much trouble with all your advice on this forum. On Monday I had my Covid jab when I awoke on Thursday I could not get out of bed and in terrible pain in my calves, hips, shoulders and neck. Could only think this was due to the jab as I had done nothing out of the ordinary. Have upped Pred. to 11mg. But this has not cured all the inflammation and have now a dull pain in my right temple which is worrying. Should I up the pred to a higher dose.

I trust your advice more than my doctor. Not that you can see a doctor these days.

Did you try taking some paracetamol/ibuprofen? That is recommended for dealing with vaccine side effects. taking some after the jab to avoid the problem in the first place and it does seem to work for most.

Yes I did take paracetamol straight afterwards.

Yes I did take paracetamol straight afterwards. The flare came on three days later. I have never

Had pain quite like this before or after diagnosis

Well you know now…. No more covid jabs .

Husband was in terrible pain with headaches after both jabs…I refused any more for him ..

If only we had hindsight.

Hope the pain eases…deep breathing helps. And take all the right nutrients to boost the immune system….vit D with K, B complex, vit C and zinc, Etc etc., good diet, no rubbish.

Hope all goes well.

The body can heal itself given the right help.

Thank you Reya32. I am feeling a little better today muscle not so stiff and painful. Had a full blood test and CRP/ESP today. So waiting results to see if anything shows up.

So glad you are feeling better Pebblegod,

Any improvement is good.

The CRP may come back a little raised as is usual in any inflammation.

Not to worry.

If you didn’t get Covid then you must have a good immune system despite taking preds which usually weaken it.

Pmr affects the muslcles …an oncologist told me but

I wonder why prednisone eases all other muscle pain but not the breast muscle pain?

You are lucky to have good G p,.

Sleep well.

Agree with PMRpro- more likely the vaccine than a flare as such.. and if that’s the case Pred is unlikely to help.

Agree headache is worrying - and with any new occurrence of that you need medical input.

Although it is listed as a common side effect -as are all the other issues you describe-

I have just received a call from a lovely doctor at the practice. It seems as if you were right as always! She also thinks it is a reaction to the Moderna vaccine and has given me a prescription for a high dose co-codamol. Just to check it is not a flare has booked me in for a CPR blood test at 10.35am tomorrow. Hopefully I can now drop down the pred to 6mg.

The pain is probable worse as I have another rare disease called paramyatonia genetica were your muscles are larger than normal. Thank you all so much for all your knowledge and wisdom that is getting me through this complicated disease. Read all posts every morning

Who was the manufacturer of your jab? Apparently they have changed the formula from the original jabs to cater for new varients, like they do for flu. I think I am stopping having any more as last time I was in bed for two weeks thinking I was dying. The Astra Zeneca ones had a bad effect too.

It was the Moderna Spikevax I had. I have never had Covid even those all around me have. I don,t think I will have any more.

I have never had Covid either. I had an antibody test for Covid and I was weighed down with antibodies. The figure was over the top of the scale they bothered to check up to.
