Tapering

Hi……I’m on 7-1/2mg I was going to keep at that for 6-8 weeks than cut to 7mg half morning half at night…..I had pain top of my head first few days on going from 8mg to 7-1/2 but it disappeared …..Im doing well now no pain it’s 3 weeks …..My question is “If I get to 7mg and my pain returns in my head and doesn’t go away in a few days do I go back to 7-1/2. or does it need to be higher?”……I really appreciate you guys sharing your past experience with this PMR and I realize It is totally my decision on what to do …..I have a great Rheumatologist and can call him anytime he has given me all the emergency advice on headache's, eyes, etc ……Thanks to everyone I really appreciate feedback from all of you

Try going back first, Depends a bit how long it goes on before you react. If that doesn't work, add 5mg to the dose at which you flared for at least a week and then go back to the dose you are OK at.

Would just add, a slow tapering regime might help as well… it may well alleviate the SW issue …

when I was tapering I would get withdrawal headaches the first couple days which then resolved. I could tell it wasn’t my GCA because Tylenol helped. You’re asking the right questions.
