PMR and varicose veins

Just trying to decude a course of action. I have a couple of long varicose veins in my legs. Nit that bad but a couple of times a month they seem to develop and become more prominent and painful for not apparent reason (i suspect hormones), usually lasts a couple of days but it is extremely unpleasant when they are aggravated. I am thinking of getting them treated privately, after all what else did i save for? But i don't know if it is a good idea or not. Any views or experience?

I had endothermal ablation – where heat is used to seal affected veins ; then sclerotherapy.

Thanks Piglette. Was it effective?

It seemed to work.

~I did have sclerotherapy early in my PMR diagnosis and certainly noticed less discomfort/pain for 3 years or so.

My blood vessels are not brilliant now with both legs looking much like a road map -thinning skin adds to picture too ;)

Guess my meds just mop up further discomfort - I wear support stockings to bed in cooler months which brings relief + comfort.

Felt it was worth it at time - good luck with your decision~

Pain in legs is sometimes a symptom of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), which I have.

Yes. I guess it could be though a lot if people (physios and doctors) have looked at them and tested my pulses. I will look into it though as my circulation has always been dodgy. Thank you

I had ultrasounds of both legs which turned out not normal so had second more complete one plus aorta and carotids; and lipid panel blood tests. Both legs and carotids had cholesterol blockage.

Yes I think an ultrasound is a good idea. I am going to arrange that. First step of varicose vein treatment anyway
