Have to ask all you lovely suffers of PMR, do you still reduce pred if you are in pain with other problems, for me it's my leg soft tissue damage, spoke to my dentist about it and said I've over stretched it, got a good laugh, on leaving I said thanks doc easer to see you than GP he then said thy were just lazy I had to laugh ,xx

If you have any pain or illness, it is usually a good idea not to reduce as PMR is quite sensitive to pain generally. In the case of illness you can use sick day rules. When I had a hip replacement it caused me to have a flare with a CRP of 412!!

If you are sure the pain is NOT PMR you can reduce...and remember you can take other painkillers with Pred [except for ibuprofen, unless in topical get form and used sparingly]

Not a silly question...

Thanks DL, just sometimes you feel silly and you can't make up your mind what to do, did up pred for 10 days and then came down made no difference, getting phyo and have more pain at the moment hoping that helps soon, take pain relief at bed time. X

As they say a problem shared is a problem halved -why we are here😊.. and better than turning it over and over in your mind and getting nowhere.

I had to read that a couple of times; I thought you’d made a mistake. It’s like my dog’s vet was the one who diagnosed my quinolone induced Achilles tendonopathy, not my GP or prescribing oncologist.

Yes. I do. Had 24/7 chronic pain for 15 years, & acute pain for 5. If I didn’t I’d be on 15mg for life. I can nearly always recognise the pain that comes from other issues, fortunately.

Personally, if pred works to reduce the pain when nothing else is available - I don't care if it is something other than PMR.

Will you be my rheumy? She's wanting me to reduce 2.5 mg per week til I get down to 10 and came at my GP with a nasty email as to why I wasn't lower. Now they're both on board with this. Currently at 14, supposed to be at 12.5 according to her "plan". Pain increased at 15, so I'm trying 1 mg. steps. Will be staying at 14 for another week maybe. They're actually "policing" my 1 mg. tablets which I had a few set aside. Can't get Rx til Feb. 9. I believe rheumy may have forgotten about the osteoporosis and fractures. 🙄
