Because of GI problems, bisphosphonate tablets are not an option for me, so I have gone down the infusion path. I had my first infusion on December 28th, and experienced about three days of bad muscle pain, which then resolved itself. It was a couple of weeks later that I noticed that my ankles were a little puffy, and I was getting short of breath more quickly when I went on my daily walk of ~3 kilometres.
I have consulted my GP, had a CT scan this morning, and have been referred to the local Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic, although I do not yet have an appointment. I am not experiencing chest pain, but sometimes a little discomfort and tenderness along with the shortness of breath. The only cardiac diagnosis I have ever been given is occasional ectopics. My GP wants my heart checked out as apparently angina can present as shortness of breath without pain. He has prescribed me a GTN spray.
I am currently tapering from 6mg to 5.5mg pred, over five weeks. My rheumatologist put me on a tapering schedule of .5mg every 4 weeks, but I am happier with the extra week.
As shortness of breath is listed as a bisphosphonate side effect, I wondered if anyone else who has had the infusion has experienced anything similar to this?
