Had a lot of neck issues with pmr and sometimes after playing golf it would lock up for days. Been seeing a Mctimoney chiropractor, very gentle, no heavy manipulation. Lots of simple exercises to keep neck centered and free from stiffness. Makes driving the car easier at junctions. She is now working on the shoulders and hips, again very gentle. This treatment has been ongoing for 5 months. Try to walk as much as possible, but the weather has been awful so often. Play golf a few times a week, even if it hurts a bit, swinging a club seems to help with the range of movement. Stretching exercises seem better than trying any sort of strength exercises, having read some of the information on here, I now know why.

Using a chiropractor to help with pmr
The only trouble with many chiropractors is they go on plugging "more, more" and the cost becomes enormous. I agree it can help with what I call the add-ons due to the myofascial pain syndrome component of PMR but it won't do much about the PMR itself.
I've recently seen a local American chiropractor - uses the same techniques as in the "Crack addicts" TV programme. The biggest thing he's told me is he sleeps with an arrangement of SIX pillows. I have tried using pillows to keep me on my left side and one between my knees. THAT makes a difference and the back pain has definitely changed with the chiropractic and the pillows really help!
My husband was a chiropractor and he always told me that patients should stay away from those doctors who offer “ more and more” of unnecessary things. Also, if a chiropractor wants a patient to come back 3 times a week for forever get out of the office fast. When a patient finds a good, competent and honest doctor there is nothing better to help.
Exactly my opinion. I'm not sure about this guy, just a strange person I think, and he does have a few rather strange ideas, but he is working on a book to provide ways of keeping OUT of his office!! The one I experienced in the NE of England wanted 2x weekly ad infinitum and was flogging gold-plated supplements judging by the price! I left rapidly. My lady osteopath, whose father was a spinal specialist, was very good without the dramatics. The best was the orthopod I had years ago in Germany - his boss during training insisted they learned chiropractic, they couldn't be a complete skeletal specialist without!
