salt craving

I’ve been gently tapering using DL’s taper plan and I’ve been fine at 5.5 mg for the last 2 weeks.

I’ve noticed over the past few weeks as I tapered down from 6mg to 5.5 mg that I’ve been craving salt. I’m drinking plenty of water so it’s not dehydration I don’t think.

Is it something I should be concerned about do you think?

It might be that your adrenal glands need to start working and they are not up to the job yet. That can cause low sodium especially if you are also chugging lots of water. After being on super low salt on higher doses of Pred (for the opposite reason) when I got under 7mg I started to crave salt too and took that as a sign to start adding it back into my diet.

Most likely adrenal function starting to wake up. And at higher doses of pred you tend to retain sodium and the blood level rises. Lower pred, less sodium retained and the level drops. We need a fairly narrow range of sodium in the blood to function properly and if it goes low - your body asks for more.
