Is this PMR returning?

Having been down to zero and 0.5mg on a dead slow method of reduction, I had a few emotional upsets and my adrenal glands didn’t cope so Iwent back to 2mg per day.

2 months on and I feel a lot better but I am still emotionally ‘fragile’ and now I have constant dull ache in my shoulders, arms and hands. I have some pain in my hips but so far my mobility is ok . I do have dis comfort when raising my arms over my head . Is this PMRback again? I do feel my condition is mis understood by my GP though she is very kind, and I can’t get hold of the Rheumy nurses at the hospital that used to offer advice via a help line. This service appears to have stopped now. As always after 10 years of help from this forum any comments gratefully received. Trying to not get too down!

Quick note, 10 days ago I had flu and pneumonia jabs, I slept a lot afterwards but no side effects to speak of and yesterday had my Covid jab, same thing, lots of sleeping otherwise fine.

I never think that anyone really gets it, except us.

Does sound suspiciously like PMR -sorry. But vaccines may well have caused the extra sleepiness.

If you have enough Pred perhaps a week at higher dose (+5mg is usual advice) to clear out things and then back to current dose. Even up to 5mg might be enough.

I agree with DorsetLady’s comments.

It must be unsettling to be unable to contact your rheumatology team. I suggest you write a letter to the rheumatology clinic requesting a call from the specialist nurse. 💐

It probably isn't "back" but never went away entirely. It isn't uncommon for it to take a few months for very low level activity to build up enough inflammation to notice the symptoms. Were you OK at 2mg at first or has this developed over time?
