I first was diagnosed with PMR and suspected GCA in Dec. 2018. Started on 50 mg of. Prednisone and tapered off after a couple of years. Had another bout but finally completely off prednisone by Sept. 2022. I've had a few of the odd reminders like having a problem getting up from the sofa and being exhausted but nothing that bad. But now it seems my legs won't work right. I sway to the side when I walk and my legs feel like they are going to go out from under me. I have an problem stepping up a curb unless I grab a post. Could this be a return of PMR?

It could be, but it could also be something else. It is the sort of thing you need to go to your doctor about as soon as possible - especially if it is new or started suddenly as there is always the possibility of stroke.
Not new but episodic. I remember getting this at the end of both tapers at 2 mg but not as bad. I have been very active for the past few weeks climbing up on stools to do windows for fall. Thanks for input.
" I have been very active for the past few weeks climbing up on stools to do windows for fall"
Aye, well, climbing up on stools is likely to head for a fall!!!! And yes, I do realise you meant the time of year. But PLEASE don't climb on stools - a fall at your age could have horrendous consequences.
Have you recently had a Covid jab? I only ask because 2 days after mine, my walking was as you describe. It has now normalised but I did double my Pred dose and followed the sick day rules. It was alarming and embarrassing, I had a hospital appointment and was offered a wheelchair by a volunteer ( I was on my husband’s arm).
I am assuming that it might mean a return of PMR, or even GCA/LVV for you. (my diagnosis of 4 years). The symptom needs investigation. I hope it is not serious.
Your PMR/GCA journey does sound quite up and down and fast - as if it wasn’t properly contained somehow.
I would think that being 8 years in since PMR and still symptomatic though.
