Next Pred reduction

I reduce to 17.5 Pred tomorrow for ,2 weeks and then my GP takes the prescription over and now organised. Eye appointment on Wednesday I think the catheract has developed quicker recently, could this be medication. My left eye is like frosty

Then please make an appointment with optician/optometrist to get cataract checked… and as you were reducing from 50- 40mg only a month ago, just be careful about dropping to 17.5mg… it’s very quick, and now on lower doses you need to be on each dose longer than 2 weeks…

Thank. You I have an eye appointment on Wednesday and stay on 20 mg a bit longer

yes prednisolone does speed up cataracts. I had both my eyes done earlier this year and it makes such a difference. Hope you can get them done soon

Some people find that pred does speed up the ripening process of cataracts, for others it has no effect at all.

Some people have advised wearing good quality sunglasses all year round to slow down cataract development.
