Connective tissue clinic

I've had GCA/PMR since 2017, currently on 4.5-5 mg of pred daily. I take 25mgs Mtx weekly.I did successfully come off pred a couple of years ago but was back on within a couple of months.

My rheumatologist now sending me to connective tissue clinic in December, I've received appointment through post.

I'm unsure why this clinic , any ideas ??

It will be a rheumatology clinic specialising in connective tissue disorders - though since most rheumatic disease is CTD, it seems a bit like moving the deckchairs on the Titanic or a rose by any other name ... In some places the CTD clinic specialised in the more complex inherited or genetic ones.

Has the rheumy made any comments that they suspect this may not be "just" PMR?

Thanks for replying , I was wondering if they had just changed the name of the clinic .My consultant hasn't mentioned anything about ctd and I looked it up and wondered what she was thinking.

PMR IS a CTD. There are a lot of marketing style changes made in the NHS - some are a waste of money ...

Hi Pamela60, perhaps he thinks you might also have EDS--Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I have it along with PMR and GCA.
