Thank you to all who replied to my post. They do an aqua class at the local sports centre so I'll give that a try first and see how I get on. They have a class on a Wednesdays and Fridays for 45 minutes. When I was there yesterday taking a look, the class was actually on and it looked as though it was all mature ladies. There were quite a lot there. Looks like it will suit me anyway. Had telephone consultation with doctor (not my own GP) this afternoon. He is concerned about my PMR and did not want me to go any higher than 10mg (my current l;evel) even though I am really struggling. No energy whatsover. He has arranged a blood test for tomorrow morning which covers quite a few things. My sister said I ought to ask for a blood test for B12.(?) She had one and it was discovered that she was deficient so it was arranged for her to have injections! She is 84 and her energy levels were very low. I did manage a bike ride on my Ebike a few days ago which was really lovely and made me feel young again! A round trip of 16 miles mostly on cycle paths a quiet country lanes close to home. I need a few more I think especially now that the weather is picking up.

If your GP is concerned about your PMR he should allow you a dose that is enough to suppress the PMR. If he won’t let you have enough steroids you may as well not bother at all.

To start with don't be tempted to go mad in the aqua class - the resistance of the water makes a big difference from doing the same movement on land! Break yourself in gently ...

Oh I do love an e bike! We live in hilly Cornwall & no way would I cycle except on the old tram roads without an e bike. As PMRPro says take it easy at first with Aqua. All depending on the type of music I can get quite carried away 🤣 but it’s amazing how you can do so much more in the water once you get a hang of the moves. I hope you enjoy it. So much more fun than swimming up and down the pool. X
