Iam just wondering if it's just me.Sometimes I can't decipher if it's pmg or old age pain.I know taking pain meds doesn't help pmg so is that the way we confirm?

It’s not just you, especially as you get lower on Pred, the normal aches and pain of life [not helped by age] do re-appear…
..and you are correct, if they are helped by painkillers it probably just that….painkillers do zilch for PMR itself , although it may help a little with withdrawal symptoms in some people.
What aches and pains do you have in particular? Or are they too numerous to mention ? 😳,, 😂🤣
I've been getting pains in wrists. Also have pains where my legs meet my torso.Thats new pain.It is both sides.Iam assuming it's inflammation!
The pain is on both sides where my legs attach to my body.I had tapered to 8 mg aft a month but in two weeks I felt pain.So I've upped my prednisone to 10 mg.Its helping already.I guess I for a week then drop to maybe 9mg?
On the outer aspect of your thighs or in the groin? Either way it could be bursitis.
It's the bones at the side of my legs .Does pmg burn in a flare?

It does sound as if it might be part of your PMR since it is on both sides. You need enough oral pred - but a better approach if you can get it would be local steroid injections. Physio would possibly also help - there are stretches that will ease it somewhat. And icing over the point of the femur.
I recognise the pain on the outside of each hip. I get that when I go too low with my Pred. I've found that sleeping in the recovery position helps, as it stops me from putting weight directly onto the affected part of the hip, but it's still there and doesn't go away unless I up the Pred amount I take, painkillers didn't seem to do much, if anything at all to diminish the pain. So I had to up the Pred dose each day, and then it just faded away.
