Numb toes

I read all the posts daily and it has been so helpful, this is my first posting. PMR since May 22 when prescribed 15mg of Pred which worked it's magic within 24 hrs. I am now down to 1.5mg and doing ok except for arthritis in hip which had been masked by the Pred on higher doses. My problem is a constant feeling of numbness in toes of both feet which I have been experiencing for about 3 months. I have had a comprehensive blood test which didn't come up with anything that could be causing the numbness. My GP admitted he doesn't know what is causing the numbness and has just asked me to monitor it. Needless to say no one has actually seen me in person to examine me! Has anyone else experienced this numbness?

Thanks Dorset lady. My bloods were fine so no diabetes. On my smart phone I don't appear to see anything on right of the page.

Is it the whole of the toes that are numb or just bits? Do you have any swelling in the feet or lower legs?

Hi Snazzy, All my toes have a numb sensation, no pain, no swelling in the legs. I always wear sensible shoes. No diabetes. Having now looked at previous posts I gather others experience the same, I wonder if it's the Pred or the PMR🤔

Hi and welcome now you have stopped lurking!

Pred CAN cause neuropathy though it is relatively rare. Have they checked for diabetes?

I have numb toes and my foot also....I find I have to elevate periodically and when I do, I will wiggle my toes, press my feet up and down and try to make circles with them. It helps. One day I also had some swelling and realized how long I had been at the computer. I went out for a 20 minute walk and could literally feel the swelling go down in my Crocs💞.

Yes have the same problem with all toes been going on for two years, have never thought to mention it to Doctor, find walking into town, 10 mins, difficult especially across cobbles or if the pavement slopes, have no grip. Toes seem to creak if manipulated.
