Shingles

Hi all,

My friend has Shingles. With PMR is it advisable to stay away until after breakout.

Reading conflicting advice.

Have you had chicken pox yourself in the past?

You won't "catch" shingles - but there is a small risk of you catching chicken pox if you haven't had it before and were to come in contact with the fluid in any blisters from the shingles. Since they are generally around the waist area and covered with clothing the risk is minimal - bit different if the rash is on the face and you were to hug each other as then you could inhale virus if the blisters aren't scabbed over.
