6th vaccination today with VidPrevtyn Beta which I am told is a monovalent, recombinant-protein COVID-19 vaccine developed by Sanofi. Totally painless shot. Seems to be a new vaccine, not yet listed on the Zoe reporting site
ON THE DAY, dded 2mg pred. to my regular 5mg dose to cover any possible reaction, in the event only slight soreness next day

I have never upped my dose for the vaccination. Hoping to get my next one next week. I went on Friday to be told, with many others, that it was only for people 75 years old and over.
Thats good to hear. Got my 6th one booked for Wednesday. Don’t know what I’ll get and to be honest feel a bit unsure whether to go ahead. On 6.5mg Pred now. Just seems a lot of vaccines so its reassuring to hear yours went well.
You would probably have been better taking paracetamol than upping Pred -but it’s done now.
This is info on vaccine I attached to another post recently-
“About VidPrevtyn Beta
VidPrevtyn Beta is a monovalent, recombinant-protein COVID-19 vaccine developed by Sanofi, modelled on the Beta variant spike antigen and includes GSK’s pandemic adjuvant. The same recombinant-protein technology is used in Sanofi’s approved seasonal flu vaccines.
The approval by the MHRA is valid in Great Britain only.
This SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (B.1.351 strain) vaccine was approved via the European Commission (EC) Decision Reliance Route.
The EU licence includes the territory of Northern Ireland.”
Yes I appreciate why you took it - and I’m guessing at your age that’s fair enough -but we don’t usually recommend upping Pred without a very good reason.
Why so many vaccinations when it has been proven that just as many people with vaccines get sick as without? Everyone says they get their shots and there are no side affects. Tell that to the Vietnam vets dying from the 'safe' Agent Orange!
I ask this because my husband got his 1st in August 2021 so we could fly, even though the doctors knew he was compromised with his immune system thanks to his RA meds. Exactly one week later he was in the hospital getting a pacemaker due to complications from the shot! Thanks to being in the hospital he got Covid! He came home and gave it to me. On 9-21 he was gone.
After all of the crap the drug companies are convincing people to believe I will never believe them again! I take prednisone for my RA yet regular arthritis is crippling my hands, neck, hips and knees and the prednisone doesn't touch it. It's all a joke!
They get sick but not as sick. Had there been no vaccines the death rates would have continued as they were at the start and the ICUs would still be full. People are still dying of Covid but most are dying because of other underlying illness that make them more vulnerable and the ICUs are NOT full,
I presume that by "regular arthritis" you mean osteoarthritis? No pharmaceutical company claims to have a drug that helps that, though pred does sometimes take the edge off. It isn't a usual management for RA except for flares.
Have you tried Flexiseq? You can get it via Amazon and many of the members here find it helps a lot with OA.
Oh I am sorry, Amber1414. What an awful thing to happen. We are all different and a vaccine by its purpose has to be blanket cover. I have reacted badly to all but the third. I just can’t bear the thought of the sixth so I am not going to have it??!!🥴. In spite of the vaccines I have had Covid twice, possibly three times. It wasn’t too bad but that was probably because of the vaccines. I know Covid changes all the time and …? The last place to be right now is hospital. I don’t know why I am writing this. Does anyone else feel the same?
I had 6 vaccine. The first 3 no side effects whatsoever. The last three all the same variant I had problems with. Am not sure I I will have the vaccine being offered to me at present. I am due to have my gall bladder removed and saw something on the tegistration form that said either , must wait 7 weeks after contact Covid and negative or vaccine 7 weeks b4 😊
Just had my 7th Covid vaccination . As I am classed as immunosuppressed I was given Pfizer. My husband who is over 75I was told that Sanofi was a general vaccine provided to those who did not have any immune problems and Pfizer was being given to those who did have immune system problems .
Hi, I am a retired Microbiologist. Have had Pmr for 3 years but now down to 1mg of Pred. Just had 6th jab which was Pfizer. Cannot really think of a single reason to up your steroid dose prior to a vaccination. If you have any of the usual short lived symptoms try Paracetamol.
had an NHS invite for mine a week or so ago. It will be my 7th. I’m not 75 either it just said eligible for spring covid booster. I’m on methotrexate injections.
I haven't rung to book it yet so not sure which one will be on offer. There seems to be three different ones available but I guess you won't know which one until you get there?
I had the Sanofi one, last Thursday. Am over 75. Had a sore arm for 3 days, + 2 v restless, sleepless nights, but then fine. Am grateful for all the immunity I can get!
I had my Spring Covid booster two days ago. I was given Omicron. I have had a sore arm, slightly dodgy tummy and mild flu type symptoms. I reacted badly to a Moderna vaccine so have been relieved that these symptoms are manageable!
Thank you for your reply. I am aware that omicron is a version of Covid. I asked the nurse and she didn’t know which vaccine she was injecting! She showed me and others the vaccine bottle and it said Omicron/ Omicron. Which vaccine do you think this might be? I will check with the GP to clarify.
So many varieties being given now. The reactio.n must mean that the body has accepted the intrusion, so that you are protected. I hope everything settles down quickly and that you are back to normal.
