I was in A&E last night with a terrific headache, pain in shoulders and neck. ECG, blood tests etc, revealed nothing, although I was worried it may be a symptom of GCA. I started a flare in late January after two bouts of nasty colds and Covid which put me out of action for two months. I raised my pred from 7.5mg to 8.5mg, which was the last dose I was comfortable with. But my question is, if anyone else has had the same experience, should I up my dosage of Pred even further? As always, these things happen during holidays, so I can’t see my rheumatologist until later in the week. The headache has been bothering me intermittently for the last week, but seems to disappear in the evening, which makes me wonder if it’s some new symptom of PMR. Thank you so much for any advice….

If you think it’s a flare even though nothing showed up in A&E this link contains usual advice -so it might be wise to go up by the 5mg (in total) recommended- rather than the 1.5mg you have-
I was just going to respond as DorsetLady has. I was also wondering about residual Covid symptoms. I have read countless articles about symptoms we can be left with, after Covid. This will wait until you can access a doctor but I agree with DL about alerting your Rheumatologist to the GCA possibility and taking urgent action of you experience any more symptoms, like eyesight issues and jaw claudication. Good luck.
