Is this because of change of meds?

I am on 12.5 mg Pred & due to go down to 10mg next week. It seems to me that whatever distance I walk my knees stiffen up later in the day. Does anyone else have this.

Also my meds were dropped too quickly so symptoms started coming back. Now I’ve been put up again for a couple of weeks my face is quite red in the morning. It fades during the day. I’m hoping it’s not a reaction. Also face is puffy which it wasn’t before meds messed with.

I wouldn’t drop by so much, maybe 1.5 mgs but I’d give myself another week at least. I went through a phase of scarlet cheeks, it passed like all the other weird manifestations of Pred. Same with the puffy face. None of my doctors are particularly interested so I just carry on and the symptoms fade.

Hi,

if your taper was too fast first time round, it’s likely to be this time as well..so as SheffieldJane says smaller drops…1mg or it you don’t have 1mg - cut a 2.5mg - so longer as it’s plain white uncoated variety.

Maybe have a read of this as you are new -healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...

Puffy face is down yo steroids unfortunately- and if your knees stiffen up perhaps your dose is not quite enough…

yes, stiff knees after longer walks, but mine is osteoarthritis I believe! Round moon face is common with pred, & yes, I get the red face & also a red rash under my chin! S x

I have found recently that virtually all my friends are complaining about stiff knees and a lot of them are younger than you are and don’t have PMR! I have decided it is part of life.

Stiff knees arrived about 4 weeks into PMR, no trouble before that. One knee is slowly returning to normal so far.

That sounds like good news. I get PRP injections for my knee. I had the last one about eighteen months ago and my knee still seems OK.

That would be good. My brother in law says he is waiting for stem cells to fix his knee.
