Methotrexate and Shingrix Vaccine

Could someone please advise whether I should stop my Methotrexate injection before I receive the shingles vaccine, my Pred reduction seems to be going well and I am worried I will have a flare without the Methotrexate. Have finally got down to 7mg for the first time in 12 years.🤞🤞

It is only for 2 weeks and the effect of MTX usually takes at least that to wear off.

I didn't stop Methotrexate when I had the vaccine and had no adverse side effects.

It isn't a question of adverse side effects. Stopping the MTX for 2 weeks means your body produces a far better response to the vaccine - which obviously has benefits in terms of protection.

Hi Hollybee. Afraid that whilst I have successfully, but very cautiously, reduced to 1 mg PRED, I remain on MTX but have not been invited for any other jabs so cannot assist. Am hoping MTX will continue to hold for PRED so I can wean off though at 1/day and hearing other stories, am relatively happy with this.
