Thanks to everyone who replied to my request for the poster showing typical comments made to us PMR sufferers. I've printed off the one I particularly wanted and have been having a good laugh at the others. It's good to laugh at ourselves, otherwise we'd cry!!

Thanks again to all you lovely people.

Laugh, and the world laughs with you;

Weep, and you weep alone.

Coined by American poet Ella Wheeler Wilcox (1850-1919) in her poem "Solitude" (1883)

Indeed - amazing the things you come across on this forum ...

I can't say that I have heard any "comments" from people since developing PMR. No doubt they have noticed that I'm much slower than I used to be but merely put it down to accelerating old age. There have been some sideways looks with my weight gain but I've decided to keep the weight on as it makes me more easily seen by sight impaired drivers, arrogant cyclists and errant scooterists.

I suppose PMR might even have its advantages at times! An old friend is coming to stay with me in August. I pointed out that I may be a bit slow at times ie slower than I was before PMR🤔 She came back with 'I'll do the cooking'. Well, I can hardly object to that, now can I🤗

my mother has to be the best….. “I think I have that too”……. “I’m in a lot worse pain than you, I hope you never suffer like me”….. and of course there is “ you are lucky you have all the help you need”( she has caregivers twice a day, where as I have my husband who is suffering from COPD )……I could keep going but it makes me sound very petty….

No it doesn't - she needn't add to your burden.

💐Thankyou for your kindness, I put it down to her being old and lonely, doesn’t make it easier tho….. she can be quite spiteful too, but I’m sure she isn’t going to change ….. I will keep doing the Christian thing, and turn the other cheek…. After 64 years it has become a habit 💐, just as much as my ignoring what she says has… it no longer hurts, I just feel sorry for her…..

Hee, hee, your mother sounds just like mine! though she has changed her opinion somewhat, because my hair is so frizzy and she takes that as a sign that someone is not well.

I must be permanently unwell then - for 70 odd years..🤦‍♀️

Thanks so much, Maggiechris, for pointing me in the direction of that website. I actually had such a good laugh yesterday - laughing out loud, as they say. It was SO pertinent to losing my mobile (when I'm actually using it) and not finding my glasses (when they are on the top of me head)!!
