cutting Uncoated 1 mg

hi all I’m on 7mg and hoping to go decrease to 6.5 next week. My dilemma is I only have non coated 1 mg and I can cut in half fine BUT I take coated with other Prednisolone. I’m wondering when to take Uncoated half. I take coated at approx 9am but I know they take longer to become absorbed so when should I half Uncoated so they are all working together. Thank you for your time.

Out of interest - why do you take coated so late in the day? Does it work OK?

It will be mostly absorbed in the early afternoon so take you 1.2mg about lunchtime.

just thought it was mornings you should take

O take Uncoated 0.5 mg at 2 pm. Is there a better time to take. I’m stiff in mornings with shoulders legs aching !

Coated pred takes 4 to 5 hours to get into the system - the tablets pass through the stomach before the coating is broken down and that takes 3 or 4 hours. So the earlier you take them in the morning, or even overnight, the sooner they can tackle the inflammation that starts forming about 4am in the morning. Some people even take enteric coated pred before bed so it is absorbed and acting by 4am.

I take my e/c before bed and it’s been successful in giving me hardly any PMR pain in the mornings. Personally I would take the uncoated in the morning. Up to you.

Only arises when I need .5 mg as Iv got coated but they say don’t cut !!

What have you got? e/c comes in 5, 2.5 and 1mg - you don't need to cut until below 2mg if you have all 3: 2.5 plus 4x1 works out to 6.5

No reason why not - you may even have a really good morning for a change! Don't worry - loads of people don't cotton on to that way of doing things,There is a gasp of "why didn't I think of that" every time it is mentioned.
