COVID strikes

Having avoided it for 3years I succumbed two days ago. I reported this on the NHS website and was very impressed this morning to get a phone call from a doctor at Stoke Mandeville hospital to discuss whether I needed any añti viral treatment As i am down to low dose of prednisolone and.my CRP is 15 he said I didn't need. Very thorough investigation of symptoms history etc and more importantly said he thought I should be OK to fly to Australia next week

Feel much better this afternoon so fingers crossed

Fingers crossed indeed! So frustrating after having dodged the bullet for so long

Fingers crossed! Might be worth checking your travel insurance and any other regs that it’s ok to fly so soon after diagnosis with Covid.

Whatever you do, try not to overdo! I've read that one can reduce chances of developing Long Covid by allowing oneself to recover completely from the acute phase of the disease. The chance of developing LC apparently has little or no relation to the severity of the disease experienced by a patient, just as possible after a mild case as a more severe one, and also possible even when fully vaccinated. So, look after yourself, and may you indeed soon be well! 🍀

I’d agree with HeronNS. I avoided Covid until 14th Feb and have been so unwell since, particularly the fatigue. I am avoiding going back to work for as long as possible (couldn’t actually get there under my own steam at the moment, and it’s very close). I want to avoid long Covid if at all possible - PMR is enough to deal with. Take care Mary73 and I really hope you are able to fly to Australia. 😊

I thought you didn’t have to report it now?

If it's like here you can report but it's not mandatory. Most people dont any more, and with so few having PCR tests any more nobody really knows the case number. I wish people did have to report: A) better able to keep tabs on actual numbers and B) if the patient develops LC there's a record.

Good thing I did report my result as had a call from local hospital who decided I didn't need anti virals. My husband has just tested positive so keeping fingers crossed for flight to Oz on Thursday (with FFP2 MASKS!)
