I know I am probably an over thinker and need to start doing some creative hobbies but:
When I go to my dentist she is usually keen to carry out an Xray. And I had a lengthy ablation procedure on my heart in 2017 which I was told was half the amount of radiation person should receive in their lifetime. Then last year before being diagnosed with PMR I had a hip, knee and chest Xray and later a Dexa. The dentist usually says its only a small amount of radiation.
My concern is could that small amount could be the straw that breaks the camels back? Any thoughts would be appreciated. And I promise I will find a creative hobby. Thanks

I wouldn't be too enthusiastic about a dentist who wanted x-rays every time! I hear tills ringing ... Mine charges healthily for an x-ray but does them only if there is a good reason to have a look.
There isn't really a straw that breaks the camel's back with radiation - and what's done is done.
Please tell your dental office that they may take X-rays only when absolutely necessary and for exams every two years. Tell them this is due to an excessive amount of radiation you are receiving for medical issues. Ask them to please post this as an alert/flag in your chart. Some offices are so pro-X-rays that it is an automatic routine.
That’s a beautiful rug, well done on your achievement.
I made a few smaller pieces many moons ago just using any unwanted material I had. It can be quite a therapeutic pastime. People have been making ‘rag rugs’ for a long time, it’s an early form of recycling.
Yes, all my rugs are made from 'waste' fabric from a mill - samples and damaged lengths etc. Folk used to make a new rug every year out of their old clothes - it started off on the bed to keep their feet warm, was moved to the parlour at Christmas, then into the kitchen, then maybe the dog's kennel and eventually onto the compost heap. As DL says, it was out of necessity and just what they did. I make a point of never buying fabric for my rugs - a very cheap hobby!! The hessian I use for proddy rugs is from old potato sacks or coffee bean sacks - Taylors of Harrogate - no other! 🤣
They’re lovely. I'd never heard of 'proddy' rugs before - amazing what you learn on here 😉 - so have been googling and have found lot of lovely ones for sale. What’s the origin of the name do you know?
Yes, it's quite meditative, but can be a bit hard on our fingers and thumbs! I find braiding easier on my hands and it grows more quickly and doesn't need the thousands of tabs to be cut! I'm afraid we've gone off piste from your question about radiation, but you started it with your comment about creative hobbies! 🤣 Maybe another rugger in the making.....?
Thats OK , its nice to think about creative hobbies. I have a small garden and hope to work towards making it into a little oasis. I keep watching escape to the country on TV and wishing I could.
