Painful stomach

I have just been through 2 days of excruciating stomach pain brought on by taking fish oil tablets. I saw my Dr today and he said it's a reaction to fish oil.Sometning in it.All I know it set off my irritabl💋e boil Syndrome big time.I don't know if prednisolone would have anything to do with it.Has anyone on prednisolone had trouble with IBS.I wonder what next can happen to me.😀

I’ve not experienced this but you might be interested in this article which mentions side effects of fish oil.

I cant take fish oil - just cant seem to digest it. I take Flax seed oil instead.

Yes it's terrible. The pain is soo severe.I rung Dr back today and he took more notice of me.Says it might have become divertucolitis which I have had in the past so he's getting a ct scan and sending me some antibiotics.I can't move the pain is so severe.Im wondering if my delightful prednisolone has anything to do with my reaction too.

I do hope you get some answers and relief soon. 🌹

I can only tolerate small amounts of fish and am allergic to shell fish. Stop the fish oil if you haven't already and try Flaxseed oil instead?

If you have diverticulitis - or losis be very careful a flare needs to be taken seriously.

Yes I realise now what may be going on.I am a little better since starting antibiotics but I will head to the hospital if there is another attack.Just pain right now.Fingers crossed.

I have never known pain like it (and I am no stranger to pain) and nearly headed for the hospital in the middle of the night - however pain killers calmed it down and I saw the GP who was shocked and insisted on two sorts of Anti-bs because I can't take penicillin. However reading the bumf on the ABs I decided to wait till next day before starting them - and got away with it this time!

Sounds like my pain.im no stranger to pain either. Its having another go at me now.ill take some painkillers. I've taken the antibiotics. I had to see Dr twice before he realised how severe it was.

What are they like? I google it in the wee small hours and they suggested pain killers - so I wasn't hopeful but I took some and it eased. The warnings are dire about ignoring that sort of pain too so a doctor should take it seriously!

googled it even

Yes he was more concerned that I saw my Rheumatologist before he gave me a 5mg script for prednisolone Things have gone crazy

Flaxseed oil keeps my eczema under control. I guess it is the omega3s.

Have you reported the No spaces issues -HU are aware -but the more people that contact them the more likely they are to act…

Neonkittie 17 on the NRAS forum is having a similar problem with spacing. Not sure if it’s the same as yours.

Have you advised them to report it ?

Perhaps link them this - if you are on NRAS forum - healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk....

As far as I know they have tried everything possible including reporting it. I will try to give her the link. I’ve let her know about Tina’s problem and she has ‘liked’ my message.

She has replied and I’ve given her the link. She has been in touch with HU admin but not received a response as yet.

Tell her not to hold her breath - but the more people complain, the more likely they are to do something. Usually they try to make DL and me feel we are the only people having techy problems!

I belong to a few forums and haven’t come across anyone other than the three people we know about with this issue. I’m not at all technical but it seems as if they are dragging their feet. It must have been going on for at least ten days from what I can make out. Maybe a bug that’s hard to get rid of.

Some bugs are there for weeks before they stir themselves and sort it!

Same thing happened a few months ago, and it seemedto be sorted, but I think as people’s devices get updated, something at HU throws a wobbly…..

Rachmaninov2 profile image
Rachmaninov2 in reply toDorsetLady

I see, so it looks as if it will be an ongoing issue.

PMRpro profile image
PMRproAmbassador in reply toRachmaninov2

Something will be! It seems to be the nature of the beast! HU that is ,,,

DorsetLady profile image
DorsetLadyPMRGCAuk volunteer in reply toRachmaninov2

For some it may be, and if it’s an intermittent problem, or only affects a few in the great scheme of things, it difficult for HU to identify it.

If you consider how many different devices, with different software and various upgrades are used worldwide it’s not always fixable for everyone. This forum is a very busy one compared to others, so perhaps it’s no surprise we have more glitches.

Not saying HU shouldn’t try and resolve it asap, I do have some sympathy for them, but there is no excuse not to respond more quickly.

Thanks, I understand more now. So frustrating for those with issues. 😖

I think Neonkittie’s issue has been fixed.

No, we invariably are they only ones reporting them…. Or maybe more intolerant of them….take your pick 😳

I too have a "sensitive stomach" but in 4 years of taking Prednisolone, I've never experienced an upset from that source. But I've never taken Fish Oil tablets, so can't advise on that score.

Be very careful if you have a sensitive stomach. It has been agony.Ive been told to try flaxseed oil.Right now I think I will shy away from them all!

sorry I wish I could help you but I’ve never had that reaction. Do hope you get sorted soon as you are suffering so much. 🤞

Thanks

I believe withdrawing from prednisolone can cause this severity.I am so over it it with all the side effects of this drug.I am finally feeling a bit better after taking the antibiotics but they are causing headaches and vomiting .I'm monitoring it.Finally I can drink and eat very small amounts.
