Has anyone had breast surgery or any other kind really while still on 15mg Prednisolone. It’s making me very nervous. Been down to 6mg but back on 30mg because of GCA/ vasculitis flare. Reduced to 15mg but a bit stuck. Waiting to see Rheumatologist in 2 weeks.

If your surgeon is happy to operate you should be fine. Surgeons are always fussy as they don’t want failure.

Hi, PMRpro let me know about your Post - Grandson is about to arrive but l had a Mastectomy while on 7.5mg of Pred & yes the Surgeon was concerned but more so about reconstruction rejection so l didn’t push it…

Happy to answer any questions you may have - l was on Methotrexate too & that was stopped.

Hi there, I had bowel surgery whilst on 60mg and 12 months later further surgery whilst on about 15/20mg. If your surgeon is happy to proceed( and obviously all staff will be aware) then delaying surgery is not a sensible option. Good luck.

I had a total hip replacement on 15mg. Surgery Sunday morning home Monday teatime !!!

I had two shoulder surgeries last September and November whilst on 8.5 mg Prednisolone. The surgeon would have preferred me to have been on a lower dose but the surgery was urgent as my shoulder was deteriorating badly. I was unlucky to need revision surgery 8 weeks after the first. The surgeon’s main concerns were the increased risk of infection and slower healing. I’m also a type 2 diabetic which added to the issues. I think you have to weigh up the risks of the surgery against not having it - difficult I know🌸
