can anyone tell me why everyday after about 4 hours of taking this medication that’s when my vision is blurry, feel anxious then towards evening it all Seems to settle again. No discomfort just the tablets seems to make my eyes and anxiety worse. I’ve monitored this and it is everyday, so many hours after taking it.
prednisolone: can anyone tell me why everyday after... - PMRGCAuk
prednisolone
Unfortunately both side effects of the Pred -but both should lessen as you lower the medication.
I had the blurry vision. Went to ophthalmologist and he noted my ocular pressure was elevated, although not quite enough to require drops. He did have me come in for follow up checkups every few months for a year, and I still see him annually rather than previoius every two years. As my dose reduced the pressure declined back to a normal level. However it might be worth a trip to eye doctor to have your pressure checked if that hasn't been done since you started pred. I doubt there's any connection between blurry vision and pred-induced glaucoma, but you never know. I also found my night vision wasn't as good as it had been.
Are you on Entric coated tablets? The timing would be about right for the Pred to enter your system.
The other possibility is that because we become quite introspective with these conditions, you expect it, therefore it happens. I had this experience with panic attacks in the past, no rhyme or reason.
Feeling jittery is a definite side effect. What do you mean by eye symptoms?
I have an eye health check every three months (£60) at a well equipped optician - this reassures me.
Peak Pred levels each day made me feel pretty squiffy but reduced as the blood level dropped. On high doses I had to take it before bed to sleep through the worst drugged feeling before that wore off and I woke up far too early. This effect reduces as the dosage drops.
I get dry eyes which can cause some blurriness.
Possibly just a reaction to the pred as it gets to its higher levels.
It's worth getting your eyes checked as Heron suggested if the symptom is happening about the same time everyday just to be sure that the pressure in your eyes is ok.Did you suffer with Anxiety issues before starting steroids?
Are you on any medication for it , if you don't mind me asking?
As others have said when you first start Pred anxiety and mood swings can be a common side effect , but your anxiety appears to be coming at a very regular time , at the same time as the eye issue. It would be something worth discussing with your GP after having the eye test done.
Most people's change in mood or anxiety gets better as the dose goes down . But if you are already getting help with Anxiety and take medication for it it is worth discussing with your GP as you may benefit from an increase in your anti anxiety medication in the short term while the steroids dose is above 10mg.
Relaxation breathing done with eyes closed and CBT calming techniques help reduce the symptoms of anxiety and can also improve any feeling of discomfort in the eyes.
