It wasn't there this morning, but early evening I noticed a small round red mark on my leg, about a centimetre wide 6 inches up from the ankle on the front of my left calf. I've had similar in the past three months but irregular shapes which I though could be attributed to rubbing against a plant or perhaps the sap when cutting back in the garden. Perhaps not, though. It's not raised, or painful at all and I haven't bumped into anything. It just seems odd that it's turned up out of the blue I wonder if anyone else has had something similar? I hope I'm not being overly sensitive......

Random red patch on leg
I have purpura turning up on my arms and legs, they just appear as small reddish marks and then disappear again over a couple of weeks or so.
As piglette suggests - sounds very like purpurae. They can be irregular in shape or fairly smooth and round. The picture here is a bit dramatic - they can appear singly too!
I've had this on my arms and sometimes I don't remember what I did, but I think there's always a cause, and you may have bumped something without even noticing, very easy to do. When our skin is fragile, either from pred or from aging, or from both, even a slight bump at the wrong angle, which doesn't even hurt or you might never notice, can cause quite an alarming mark! Keep skin well moisturized which I believe gives it a bit more resilience.
Are you on Prednisone? This happens to me periodically. The Prednisone makes your skin very thin.
Thanks to you all for your helpful comments. I feel better now that I know it's not the plague!!! Happy and Peaceful New Year to you......x
