mums skin is now quite fragile and thin. Are there particular moisturisers people have found helpful? District Nurse commented on it this am. She drinks reasonably well since UTI but it has definitely thinned and bruises easily since the pred started a year ago

Kind GPs will prescribe DIprobase or Doublebase products and many people swear by them.. Stop using soap or any products that foam as well.

My GP prescribed Isomol gel for my legs which they refer to as Double Base but had to buy the next ones myself and found it referred to as Epimax but in smaller print said isomol gel at a pharmacy, not expensive. Then had a rash on my chest and the GP prescribed Epaderm cream which is much lighter than the double base and now I buy my own. On checking the internet the Isomol wasn't recommended for the face as it is so heavy and can block the pores. There seems to be so much choice it is good to at least get the first one on the NHS recommended by a GP. till you find a satisfactory one to buy,

I use Cetraben and have it to be the most effective and easy to apply. It is not heavy or thick like some of the emollient creams. My surgery used to prescribe it for me before I had PMR because I also have eczema but they now only prescrible Epimax which I find is too thick and heavy for my now very fragile skin after more than 3 years on steroids. I am 82.

thanks.the nurse said some of them could be quite thick which can be a pain. I have ordered the cetraben for now and will see if GP can help. Mum is 83 and her arms have particularly suffered with the steroids I think.
